The department has large and active research programs in the core areas of condensed matter, high energy physics, and cosmology, and also includes a number of vibrant smaller programs, in areas such as fields/strings/gravity, nuclear physics, high energy astrophysics, biophysics, complexity, computational science, and quantum information science.
