Soft and Biological Matter “virtual” mini-Workshop for undergraduates (Friday, Dec. 4)

From the Physics Dept. Chair of Univ. of Chicago:

Dear Physics Undergraduates,
I am reaching out to you to highlight the exciting opportunities for those of you interested in graduate PhD studies in experimental and theoretical soft and biological matter.  Emergence in science arises from the realization that “More Is Different”.  Universality arises when one realizes that “Different is Often the Same”.  Nowhere are these realizations more important than in studies of soft and biological matter.
The University of Chicago program has pioneered numerous innovative research directions in this area.  Our exceptional PhD program includes many cross-disciplinary collaborations which take advantage of our world-class facilities and also our proximity and close connections to Argonne National Laboratory. Please visit this webpage for more information about some of our activities: https://sites.google.com/uchicago.edu/softandbiomatteratuchicago

We are organizing two live webcasts highlighting UChicago researchers and their activities in this scientific area, at 10:30am and 8:00pm CST (U.S. Central Time) on Friday December 4, 2020.

Session I
• An overview and conversation: soft and biological matter, researchers and research opportunities at UChicago
• December 4, 2020 10:30 am-noon US central standard time (GMT-6)
• Zoom link: https://uchicago.zoom.us/j/93720536691?pwd=S2N6Q2FPWmZDSXJLR0RiUmRmYlkzdz09 (Password: 854340)

Session II (repeat of Session I)
• An overview and conversation: soft and biological matter, researchers and research opportunities at UChicago
• December 4, 2020 8:00 pm- 9:30 pm US central standard time (GMT-6)
