Undergraduate Summer Programs

Perimeter Institute invites students to join its world-leading research community for a two-week summer school in theoretical physics June 15-26. Some of these students will also come to Perimeter to participate in groundbreaking research through a paid internship program.

All students will learn about cutting-edge topics in modern theoretical physics through courses and other special events such as presentations from researchers and panel discussions and collaboration skills while immersed in the multi-disciplinary environment of the world’s largest independent theoretical physics research centre.

Applications are now OPEN for Perimeter Institute’s 2026 Undergraduate Summer Programs. Apply ONLINE

Perimeter has two programs and applicants must meet both of the following criteria for the 2026 application:

  • Applicants must plan to apply to a graduate program in physics that starts in 2027 or later
  • Applicants must have some knowledge of classical mechanics and quantum mechanics before the start of the program in June 2026

Two-week Undergraduate Summer School

Approximately 30 successful applicants will take part in courses on modern topics in theoretical physics, taught by exceptional researchers and teachers. The school will be on site at Perimeter Institute. Travel support, accommodation, and food are provided for successful applicants. There is no fee for the summer school.

PSI Start Research Internship

Summer school applicants may also apply for an in-person paid research internship (up to 15 weeks in duration between May 4 to August 14) at Perimeter Institute. The students accepted as PSI Start interns will be fully immersed in Perimeter’s renowned research environment, work on projects alongside Perimeter researchers, and potentially even publish their work. Students will have the rare opportunity to develop their research skills and absorb the rich variety of seminars and discussion groups at Perimeter Institute. Selection for the internship will occur at the same time that summer school students are selected and interns will participate in the two-week summer school in June. Erasmus Mundus Master in Nuclear Physics

Dear colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to our Erasmus Mundus Master in Nuclear Physics, whose application call has been recently extended till 20th of January. This master is a joint programme among six Universities of three different countries: Seville, Complutense de Madrid, Barcelona, Padova, Catania and Caen that has been granted the Erasmus Mundus recognition recently for the third time. It also enjoys the collaboration of more than 30 associated partners distributed all over the world, including most of the relevant facilities in Nuclear Physics.
If you are aware of any student interested in undergoing a Master in Nuclear Physics, we would be glad if you draw their attention to our Master. The programme includes three specialization paths: Theoretical Nuclear Physics, Experiments and Instrumentation in Large Accelerators, and Applications in small accelerators covering medical physics, environmental radioactivity…
We attached a slide with a QR directing to the webpage, in case you can advertise it on your centre or University. We also attached one more slide to advertise the Graduation Ceremony of the 8th intake that will be broadcasted through tv.us.es the next 18th of December.
More information on the programme, the call, and fellowship opportunities can be found in the webpage:
Yours sincerely,
José Antonio Lay
On behalf of the Academic Committee of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Nuclear Physics.
